This can’t possibly be what the software is supposed to do. All I did was set up my Documents to sync on my computer, and now some of dad’s personal documents are missing while others aren’t. Neither of us tried to uninstall OneDrive or deactivate it or anything like that. There was never any point where one of us moved or deleted the files. I’ve tried the personal vault unlock and looked at every other forum post about OneDrive deleting files. Out of desperation, I’ve even tried looking into “Restore OneDrive to a previous time,” but the instructions on their page don’t match what’s happening on my screen-when I go to Settings -> Options -> Restore Your OneDrive, it just redirects me back to the same help page that gave me these instructions. We’ve used the search function in file explorer on both computers. We have tried looking at, its recycling bin, dad’s bin, and mine. For example, in a folder on his computer (which also appeared on my computer), he has a subfolder called “Visio.” It is now empty on both of our computers. Dad does not use OneDrive.Īfter a while, dad realizes that he can no longer find some of the files that he uses for work. We notice over the next few days that my dad’s computer is getting my files, and my computer is getting files from dad’s computer. I select the folders on my computer that I want to backup and click “Start backup”. I do “Accounts” à “Windows Backup” à “OneDrive Folder Syncing” à “Set up syncing” I decide to upload my files to OneDrive just in case my computer dies on me one day. We are both on the same Microsoft account.
